North Carolina Concealed Handgun Class

North Carolina Concealed Handgun Class

Audience: This is a mandatory class for anyone to carry a concealed handgun in North Carolina.

Scope: The curriculum is based on the NC Concealed Carry Handgun (CCH) requirements set forth by the state. Classroom instruction and practical exercises on the range will provide the student a solid base skill set in concealed carry and presentation techniques. Students will also have an understanding of the carry/no-carry and shoot/no-shoot scenarios. NC CCH currently has reciprocity in 38 other states (as of 06/2014, subject to change).

Participants should be prepared to train in all weather conditions. This program is mainly classroom with about two hours of range time. Participants should come to class with an open mind and a good attitude.

Training day is 8 to 9 hours, 8:30 am to 5:00 or 5:30pm, with 30 minutes for lunch. It is highly recommend that you bring your lunch as you will have no options within 15 mins of the range. It is also recommended you have snacks, some will be available such as power bars and granola bars. Otherwise, please bring your own.

**Course can be broken into two 4 hour days upon request, must have a minimum of 5 participants for this option. **

Prerequisites and Physical Requirements

  2. Students must possess their own handgun and holster.

  4. Student must possess the physical strength and stamina to fire their firearms and sit in a classroom.

Required Equipment

  • Pistol (semi-auto or revolver)
  • 1-3 Magazines (for semi-auto) OR 1-3 Speed loaders/Moon clips (for revolvers)
  • Sturdy belt at least 1.5” wide (recommended, not required)
  • Cap with brim (baseball or boonie style)
  • T-Shirt with crew neck collar (no V-necks)
  • Long pants (no shorts)
  • Rain Jacket and pull-over style sweatshirt (for concealed carry training)
  • Light hiking boots or running shoes. NO open toed shoes allowed!
  • Hearing protection (available upon request, no charge)
  • Wrap around eye protection (available upon request, no charge)
  • Water bottle or hydration system
  • Foul weather clothing
  • Note taking materials (pen, paper and highlighter)

Audience:Handgun owners or people who carry a pistol daily and want to advance their shooting skills, decrease their draw time from the holster, learn techniques to quickly process information in compressed environments, work though defensive pistol tactics and be challenged with realistic training.

Scope: This course is for handgun owners who want to experience proper/safe techniques of how to efficiently utilize their handgun in defensive situations in compressed environments such as social settings, vehicles and in congested areas. The instruction and practical exercises on the range will provide the student a solid skill set in defensive pistol manipulations in close-in situations, tactics, changes in pistol fundamentals, and a variety of additional real world skills.

Participants should be prepared to train in all weather conditions. This program can be challenging and participants should come to class with an open mind and a good attitude. With our personal approach to training, low student to instructor ratio, your skills will improve!

Audience:Pistol owners that have some shooting experience to more experienced shooters looking to improve their drawing (from holster), speed shooting/reloading skills and the ability to conduct all fundamentals while moving or in compressed and complicated environments!

Scope: This course is designed to teach pistol owners the needed skills in order to operate their handguns while moving and decrease their times on: drawing their pistol, engaging multiple targets, reloading and positional shooting. This is aided by the use of an automated course of fire where we are able to capture target engagement times. This all occurs with seasoned and knowledgeable instructors with a low student to instructor ratio.

This is a challenging course that will force you to think on your feet. Classroom instruction and practical exercises on two ranges will provide the student a solid skill set in shooting fundamentals and handgun manipulation skills. More experienced students will refine their current skill set in order to progress as better shooters.

Participants should be prepared to train in all weather conditions. This program can be very challenging, and participants should come to class with an open mind and a good attitude. With our personal approach to training, low student to instructor ratio, your skills will improve!

So now that you have been to a vehicle course and learned what is true and what is not….this is the course to test all the fundamentals with Force-on-Force…..anybody can know, the point is to understand!  

Cost: $500 (includes Simm ammunition)  

Time:  0830 to 1630 daily

This course will cover defensive and offensive vehicle gun fighting in great depth.  

This course is conducted around multiple vehicles that are actually brought on to the range. Further force on force paint marking projectiles are used to refine techniques, increase the cognitive processing abilities, and decease reaction time.   

The following objectives will be met by each student during the two day (16 hours) course:

  1. Positional work to aid in vehicle problem solving. Firing from various squatting, kneeling and urban prone positions around vehicles.
  2. Engaging threats in a vehicle: Live fire and force on force 
  3. Engaging threats from a vehicle: Multiple live fire and force on force exercises from inside and around vehicles
  4. Review points of cover around a vehicle: Explaining the actual cover that exists around any vehicle and modes of survival. Further conducting the necessary movements to facilitate survival and maximize the cover.
  5. Further dispel the myths associated with vehicles….
  6. Retention shooting: Live fire exercise at point blank range utilizing various techniques for neutralizing threat

Audience: New or seasoned Concealed Carry Handgun Permit holders that are looking to improve their concealed carry and shooting skills.

Scope: This course is for Concealed Carry Handgun holders to increase their carry skills or serve as a way to ‘knock off the rust’ if you attended a CCH course a long time ago. This is accomplished in a safe environment aided with the efficient use of a handgun. Classroom instruction and practical exercises on the range will provide the student a solid skill set in basic shooting fundamentals, concealed carry scenarios and handgun manipulation skills.

Participants should be prepared to train in all weather conditions, this course is both indoor and out. This program can be challenging and participants should come to class with an open mind and a good attitude. With our personal approach to training, low student to instructor ratio, your skills will improve! This course is designed to be instructed to 5 or less students, so please bring your friends.

Upon arrival you will need to present your North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun (NC CCH) card (or state applicable Concealed Carry Card).

TACMED and Close Quarters Pistol

TACMED and Close Quarters Pistol

Audience: This is a Tactical Medicine(TCCC)/care under fire and Close Quarters Pistol course designed for anyone who wants to learn how to care for themselves or others in a bad situation. Being able to perform the necessary measures to save lives and if needed know how to utilize a pistol to protect life.

Scope: This is a 4 hour hemorrhage control (stop the bleed) medical course coupled with a 4 hour close quarters pistol course. This is a VERY hands on class! You will be applying all types of hemostatic dressings, wound packing, tourniquets & performing causality movement techniques, more. The medical portion of this class will be taught by Max Boswell at Advanced Tactical Provider. Max is a recognized subject matter expert whose knowledge and experience in this field are unsurpassed.

The firearms portion of the course is instructed by Kevin Dylus of Blue Ridge Marksmanship. This is also a very intense class with focus on accuracy and surviving the ambush, regardless of where it happens at. The pistol portion starts with fundamentals of close quarter pistol craft and moves to techniques for fighting in close quarters including retention shooting and lots of work shooting from seated positions and in and around vehicles.

Upon the successful completion of this course you will receive two certifications, one being a nationally recognized medical certification.
